Collection: Domaine Nakajima
Domaine Nakajima is a winery founded by Yutaka Nakajima in 2014 in Tomi, Nagano, as part of the Chikumagawa Wine Valley in Nagano. Yutaka's interest in wine sparked during cooking classes and wine school, leading him to become a winemaker. He started growing wine grapes in 2010 and opened Domaine Nakajima in 2014. The vineyards are in Tomi and mainly planted with European grape varieties. Yutaka emphasizes environmentally friendly practices in grape cultivation, using minimal pesticides and focusing on organic methods without heavy mechanization.
Domaine Nakajima produces a few thousand bottles of wine annually, with a focus on quality over quantity.
Yutaka's philosophy is that “Winemaking is freedom”.
One of their signature wines is the Petillant Naturel Rosé made from Japanese Kyoho grapes, the label changes every year to tell a story about the vintage. Yutaka continuously refines his winemaking techniques and tools to improve the quality of his wines. Domaine Nakajima's wines have gained recognition both locally and internationally.
Yutaka’s is a thinking winemaker who develops the flavours in the vineyard. Besides his many inventions for efficiently handling his vineyard and winery work, he is constantly thinking about wine, every moment, trying to create better wine with creative solutions.
With Yutaka’s new project in Mido Valley, we hope to see more of his wines in the future, currently he is producing Petillant wines from Kyoho and Delaware, and three estate wines. The estate wines are a Chenin Blanc & Sauvignon Blanc, a Cabernet Franc and a Merlot.
