Collection: Nagomi Vineyard
"To stand the test of time"
Nagomi Vineyards is a winery located in the Kano area of Tomi, Nagano, run by Toshihiro and Kazumi Ike. The name 'Nagomi' refers to the 'Kano (和)' area in Tomi, Nagano, where the vineyard is located. '和' can also be read as 'Nagomi', meaning to feel calm. Toshihiro, a former engineer with a passion for wine, Ike wanted to create something that will stand the test of time, unlike the everchanging landscape of the tech world.
The vineyard, facing south-west with clay soil, allows for the production of high-quality grapes with minimal pesticide use. Their winemaking process focuses on using healthy grapes, wild yeasts, and minimal additives to respect the grapes and consumers.
The winery's Gravity Flow system and meticulous attention to detail in fermentation and bottling contribute to creating elegant and delicate wines. This is a testament to his dedication.
Ike spares no expense in creating the best wine possible, investing in top-notch equipment, cutting yield, purchasing quality barrels, and allowing for extended elevage. Rather than sticking to a standard release schedule, wines are only released when they are truly ready. This level of sacrifice and attention to detail truly sets this winemaker apart, embodying the spirit of hard work and dedication in every bottle produced.
Toshihiro aims to showcase the unique softness and gentleness of Japanese climate-grown grapes through his wines, which he believes are a perfect match for various cuisines both in Japan and abroad.
