Collection: Lan Seqqua
"To express the grapes full potential"
Lan Seqqua is a winery in Yoichi Town, Hokkaido, former cycling athlete turned farmer Shuntaro Yamakawa. The name combines "lan," conveying joy, and "seqqua," derived from "sekka" meaning snowflakes in Japanese, symbolizing "joyful snow."Yamakawa's affection for the protective snow in Yoichi is reflected in the winery's name.
Yamakawa started in 2018 by first planting his vines, and obtained his brewing license in 2020. Prior to this time, he apprenticed at Domaine Takahiko.
Yamakawa's approach to winemaking is largely through sense and feel. He communicates with his senses in order to express the grapes full potential. Due to Yoichi being a young winemaking region, there is no designated style currently, which is why Yamakawa's wines are not bound by tradition or preconceptions of the old world.
Creating wines which are completely unique in flavor.
